1 bag 1 device 10 days in Bali
I do not recall the last time I traveled by myself. That is actually a good thing because of course I travel with my wife, my son and sometimes even my parents. I almost never travel by myself. The only occassion I recall is when I had to urgently go see my grandpa who resided out of country.
Long story short, for about 4 years, I have been considering travelling with one carry on luggage only. Travelling with the family, this isn't practical because even if I do carry on, the rest of the family is checking in their luggage.
I am travelling to Bali for a boys trip (these are the guys I grew up with). My friends are flying in so we are all going to meet in Bali. This means, I will be travelling by myself from Melbourne to Bali and obviously returning home 10 days later.
I don't know how well this one bag journey will go but I have given myself the best possible chance of success. I booked my ticket on Jetstar which charges for checked in luggage. Already saved over AUD80 by not purchasing extra luggage. Instead, I used that money towards getting an exist row seats, which is also something I have not been purchasing because when traveling with a child, I am not eligible to buy exist row seats.
So, what am I taking with me:
- Bellroy 30L lite backpack
- Pixel 10 Pro Fold
- Pixel Buds and Airpods Pro
- Inateck portable Bluetooth keyboard
I weighed the bag with all my clothes etc etc and its currently sitting at 5.90kg, well under the 7kg requirement.
Honestly, I am super excited for this boys trip but I also very keen to explore this one bag travel lifestyle. Is it even worth it? Or am I just building it up on my mind.
My Pixel 10 Pro Fold is going to be my everything device. I am planning to read a bit and also play games. 3 weeks ago, I went on a holiday and caught over 6 flights. During these flights, I read entirely on my Pixel Fold and finished 4 books. The only downside of the Pixel Fold is the battery life but than again, when travelling, most phones need to be charged eventually. Speaking of charging, Jetstar (and other airlines as well), do not allow the use of power banks on flights. This means, I will be relying heavily on the USB A port on my seat to keep my phone charged during the flight. Fingers crossed that the USB A port does not let me down.
Also, I bought the Inateck Bluetooth keyboard a few months ago to use it with my iPad and I figured it would be handy for this trip should I wish to write a blogpost or journal etc etc. Its relatively lightweight.
Anyway, to prove that I can even blog from the Pixel Pro Fold, I decided to write this very blog post using the setup I would use when in Bali.
This is what the setup looks like and if you can read this blogpost that means, it was written, edited and published entirely on the Pixel 10 Pro Fold using the Bluetooth keyboard and a magsafe stand. I used my bag Bellroy lite as a way to increase the height.
