Three Things to do in 2025
Can I do these 3 simple things for my own well being? As I reflect on 2024, I realize there are certain aspects of my life that I have neglected. Therefore, instead of having some ambitious goals that I am likely to fail, I want to keep it extremely simple and focus on my wellbeing in 2025.
With that in mind, I am challenging myself to do the following three things daily:
- Weight myself βοΈ
- Meditate π§
- Exercise πββοΈ
Since becoming a dad in 2021, I have failed to dedicate time to my health and my wellbeing. If I want to be around for my family, the most important thing I can do is ensure I am in great health.
I am simplifying things by doing the three things mentioned above.
Weighing myself
The measurement of weight is a straightforward metric that, despite its shortcomings, effectively motivates me to stay on target. Monitoring my weight daily will motivate me to keep it moving in the right direction. Currently, I weigh 88KG which is only 6KG above my ideal weight. In 2025, my plan is to slowly lose weight until it's in my desired range. Although I don't have much to lose, I need to stay focused.
Meditate
My daily meditation routine was consistent for years, but in the past couple of years, it has been sporadic, affecting my mental well-being. Therefore, meditating 10 minutes daily is all I require and I am confident that I can dedicate 10 minutes every day to my mental health. I have a subscription to Headspace and also have a lifetime Calm app account. There are various types of meditation. Journaling is one of them. I plan to journal more frequently.
Despite inconsistent meditation practice, my sleep routine has remained consistent. Every night, I fall asleep listening to a sleep story on Cam through my SONOS roam speaker which native Calm integration.
Exercise
There are resilient bodies that can endure pain and are well-equipped for various forms of physical activity. Regrettably, my body does not fall into this category. As a result, my aim is to engage in exercise without causing any detrimental effects to my body. To achieve this, I have devised a daily routine that involves a combination of the following activities:
- 10,000 steps (outdoor walks, runs and also runs on the treadmill)
- Yoga: really enjoyed doing this last year
- Strength exercises on Apple Fitness
How will I be accountable?
Doing something every day is not practical. There will be days when I can't do it for various reasons. This also includes days where I am travelling/or on holidays.
Instead of aiming to complete these tasks daily and risk feeling demotivated on days I can't, I will require myself to complete them on at least 5 days each week. This will secure the momentum I have established in the weeks before.
I intend to provide monthly updates on my progress on this very blog; hoping this keeps be accountable.
The challenge officially begins on Monday, 13 January 2025 because that is my first day at work. I am still on Christmas leave π.
FYI, I have already started .. better get a early start.... because WHY NOT
I take this opportunity to wish you, my dear reader, a 2025 filled with joy, happiness, companionship and, most importantly, good health.
